Advanced Legal Aspects of Code Administration   (.6CEU)
Speaker: Linda Pieczynski

This seminar covers the terminology, concepts, and principles of legal issues that affect building officials and inspectors in the administration of their duties. It will assist the building official or inspector, or persons interested in said discipline in understanding the legal concepts related to the model building codes. The course will address the specific legal issues that building officials and inspectors face in carrying out their duties and will focus on administrative issues such as the permit, inspection, plan review and appeal processes as well as enforcement issues including stop work orders, notices of violation, and complaints. Writing administrative search warrants and legal issues and liability specific to building officials and inspectors will also be covered.

2021 IRC Performing Residential Plumbing Inspections  (.6CEU)

This seminar reviews the plumbing requirements of the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC®). The details provided will enhance your understanding of the plumbing terminology, equipment, materials, and methods of installation as related to residential construction. This seminar concentrates on the plumbing portion of the IRC. It covers the minimum requirements for residential plumbing inspections. You will also discuss major portions of a residential plan. During this training participants will experience lecture, hear relevant examples, and participate in group discussions pertaining to a residential plumbing inspection. Participants will also participate in activities that involve a checklist for performing residential plumbing inspections.

This seminar reviews the mechanical requirements of the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC®). The details provided will enhance your understanding of mechanical terminology, equipment, materials, and methods of installation as related to residential construction. This seminar concentrates on the mechanical portion of the IRC along with the appropriate portions of the International Fuel Gas Code and the International Energy Conservation Code. It covers the minimum requirements for residential mechanical inspections. You will also discuss major portions of a residential plan. This seminar will provide information so that the residential mechanical inspector can perform inspection tasks that are consistent with the requirements in the 2018 IRC.

**Members discount cost for course attendance will apply only to individual BOAL members.  All other participants are required to pay the course fee rate for non-members, EXCEPT where a jurisdiction is providing substantial assistance in putting on a course AND there is prior written agreement to consequent special terms for the attendance of its employees.  *With the exception of a BOAL cancelled event, refunds will only be issued if the attendee provides written notice no less than two weeks prior to the event.  No refund or credit will be provided for registrant no-shows.
